One of the issues with working from home is the isolation aspect when we are at work and surrounded by people you have chitchats throughout the day and it helps your social aspect but if you’re at home with no people to talk to it can be very easy to get caught up in your work and not take regular breaks from your PC. It is important to take regular breaks from the computer for your eyes, your concentration and also your health. If you need to set a time on your phone every couple of hours just take a few minutes away from the computer screen, maybe have a quick phone call with a family member or a friend and have a catch-up, myself a coffee and even get yourself a snack if you’re hungry.

Prepare Lunches Beforehand Mostly

When you work from home it can be very tempting to freshly cook a delicious lunch every day but you don’t want to be wasting your whole lunch hour cooking, shopping and making the dish. Just as if you are in the office, make this the night before and pop it in the fridge and it is ready to heat up. This will save you time. On your lunch break, you can de-stress if needed, take a walk and get some fresh air or simply relax and watch some TV. Super things like this can just make your day a lot easier and more manageable.

Work Clear Hours

It can be very easy if you’re ready to start the day working. You just jump on earlier or you need to finish a piece so you end up staying late. Because you’re at home but you don’t have the commute it can be very easy to do this. However, remember you’re not getting paid for this time and it’s important to set clear boundaries when working from home or when you’re working and when you are not. Having a good work-life balance is vital for your mental health and well-being. That being said if you do need to start early to accommodate another colleague meeting time or you need to stay late due to deadlines that need to be met, then speak to your employer about having a shorter day the next day or having that time owed back to you or even paid. Make sure that you’re not working for free and you’re getting everything you deserve from the company you work for.

Ask Work For What You Need

If you’re working from home and before when you were in the office you had a mouse mat which had extra support to protect your wrist, a foot stall or even a specifically designed chair to help you work safely and comfortably then speak to them and ask them for these things for your home. Just because you’re working at home doesn’t mean that you’re not needing to be comfortable. It’s also not up to you to purchase this thing. It’s down to the company and they need to look after their employees and their needs.
