Today is Black Friday. Personally I have never been a big fan of people pushing and shoving to get deals for the holiday season. That is not to say I have never done it but I can guarantee I can count the times I have done it on one hand with room to spare.
The most wonderful time of the year is also the busiest. If you want to get a thoughtful gift but are running out of time, try one of these unique last-minute shopping ideas. Remember Tip number 1. Always be safe and make sure of your surroundings.
Calling all New Yorkers. Whether you are a Mets fan or not, join the Mets, SNY, and New York Cares for the 7th Annual Mets “Warm-Up” Holiday Coat Drive on Wednesday, December 18, at Citi Field from 9am-5pm.
New York Cares was founded by a group of friends in 1987 who wanted to take action against social issues in New York City. Today, the organization engages 56,000 volunteers in service each year, helping 400,000 New Yorkers in need. The organization works with 1,300 community agencies, called Community Partners, to organize projects and bring the organization volunteers so they can complete their mission. It plans and manages 1,500 volunteer projects each month. Each project is led by a dedicated volunteer Team Leader.
Christmas time is always a fun time as you walk the streets at night. As kids if we were going to someone’s house (via car) we would always admire the Christmas lights and even play a game of Deco. For those of you who don’t know what Deco is, simply put the first person to say deco for a decorated house gets a point. When you reach your destination the person with the most points wins.
