Don’t Be “Green” About It: Making Golf A Sexy Sport

exercise, fitness, golf, social, The Jock, sport

It is certainly not considered the most rigorous of sports, on the face of it, that is more relegated to Mr. Olympia and anybody else who heads to the gym more than once a week! But, is golf one of the key “man” sports nowadays? When you think about the definition of a manly or masculine sport, we may think about the more physical side of things, not a sport that is for the aging gentlemen, but the more leisurely sports have pride of place as we age So, let’s make the case for golf, and if you still aren’t too sure, how you can make it a little bit more palatable.

If It’s Good Enough For Jack Nicholson, It’s Good Enough For You!

Come on, if old Mr. Shark Grin himself or Will Smith get up at the crack of dawn to play a few rounds of golf, or even Mark Wahlberg is able to schedule it into his rigorous day, then surely you can spare a thought for this pastime? Golf is a great way for you to get away from your troubles, but it’s a game that requires skill, not in the same way as football or baseball does. You certainly need a good swing, but coordination and a sense of navigating the elements serves you well.

The Course Is Certainly A Great Place For Male Bonding

There are plenty of package vacations where a group of guys go on and drink their weight in beer, but it’s also a perfect way for you to spend some time with your best friend, away from familial or relationship pressures, and just shoot the breeze. The great thing about golf is that you are as sociable or introverted as you want to be when you are out there.

The Diversity Of The Sport

Still not convinced? If you are dragged along to the golf course with a buddy, you might be surprised; you may even meet a few women there! There are golf courses that are more boys clubs than anything, but the sport is more diverse nowadays, and it’s the perfect place to be sociable and to meet new people. And also, try and shake it out, don’t head out there with that sweater and throw any semblance of color coordination out the window. Instead, get some style, maybe some Margaritaville golf shoes and chinos, or just stick to a plain shirt.

As far as a way to have some quiet contemplation, to meet new people, or just to embrace a hobby that challenges you enough, golf is, in many ways, the perfect package. But it gets lumped in with the more mundane of sports, like fishing or snooker, but so, there are still those out there turning the game into a sexy sport. And once you get into it, it’s surprisingly addictive. Is golf a sexy sport? The jury is still out, but for every Mark Wahlberg and Jack Nicholson, you’ve got an OJ Simpson making the case for the game. Now, which one do you want to be?!
