Bacon At Its Best In Brooklyn


The Great Bacon Picnic in Brooklyn is known as the “Bacon Event of the Year.” Bacon enthusiasts got to savor bacon dishes from Brooklyn’s top restaurants, a variety of beer, spirits and cocktails and play fun games including corn hole and Giant Jenga.  Other activities included catching the most pieces of bacon by mouth to win several years’ worth of passes to the Great Bacon Picnic.  The Great Bacon Picnic even had a bacon bar containing different varieties of bacon. Well in the twelfth century, a church in the English town of Dunmow promised a side of bacon to any married man who could swear before the congregation and God that he had not quarreled with his wife for a year and a day. A husband who could bring home the bacon was held in high esteem by the community for his forebearance. In today’s society men can’t do that but men and women alike have been known to share their love of bacon with things like Bacon-of-the-month clubs, bacon recipe contests, blogs, a dating app for bacon lovers, and even “bacon camps.” Bacon-Mania has taken over!
