There are stages to recovering after a breakup; initially, you might go through a stage of denial and try to win her back, then comes depression when you understand the truth but don’t accept it. Finally, there is acceptance and moving on. Here is how to manage a breakup with integrity.

Be Patient

Every breakup is different, but if you are on the receiving end, there is a strong temptation to stay up-to-date with your ex’s social media activity or to send text messages and emails. Your intuition probably tells you this is a bad idea, and it’s best to listen to it even as you grieve.

Following your ex’s new life on social media is only going to make you sad, angry, and depressed, and sending her messages and emails only makes you seem desperate and unwilling to accept reality. Although it’s hard, it’s time to detach yourself from the situation.

Make Space

While it is a sensible idea to block out the relationship for a while, you still need to make some space to mourn it and process your feelings. Hopefully, you have some work or a hobby to keep you busy, but if you don’t take up something new like running, weight lifting, or going to the gym.

Now and then, permit yourself to think about what went wrong and grieve the good times. Remember, the good times still belonged to you and her; they are still part of your life experience and can be treasured. It’s also a good idea to speak to friends or a therapist

Stay Steady

It’s important to stay steady after a breakup and maintain your integrity. Of course, your ego has taken a knock, and you might be concerned about your reputation as well; at the same time, you might feel as if you are crumbling on the inside, but you aren’t allowed to show feelings.

This is a feature of toxic masculinity, but it’s a dynamic that is slowly changing. These days, it shows strength if you can manage your feeling honestly after a breakup. While you don’t have to break down in front of people; work through your emotions and find a Father’s Rights Lawyer

Allow Sadness

A breakup is a sad time; chances are you will be feeling sad and wear a glum look on your face as you stand at the bus stop or work at your office desk. While it’s important to acknowledge you are feeling sad, it’s also important not to allow the sadness to command all of your interactions.

Try to cultivate a positive mindset; the best way is to accept the reality of the situation, perhaps right your current status down in a notebook like a dictionary definition and use it as a starting block. The aim is to move away from the sadness in a positive direction and reclaim your life.

Stay Busy

Staying busy is a useful practice when you have a lot going on emotionally; the reason is that it allows you to process your emotions while you engage with another task. However, you need to make sure you stay aware of the emotional processing so that they is some benefit to the work.
