Let me preface by saying I have been an Oral-B Genius Elite 6000 Rechargeable Toothbrush user for over 1 year. My dentist had recommended that I get myself an electric toothbrush and I found that BJs had it as a 2 pack. Before that I have been using your standard toothbrush. To no surprise, Oral-B was the first leading brand to add Bluetooth technology to an electric toothbrush and currently many in their line offer such as standard. Keep in mind, this is not a feature that everyone wants or even necessarily needs, (especially due to its price point) but it can be a very useful feature, particularly for those who need extra encouragement (like myself) and assistance to improve their oral care standards.

Existing Genius owners need not upgrade, for the most part, they are the same toothbrush. However, the Genius X is available in new color options, has a different box contents and perhaps most significantly has Artificial Intelligence (AI). The AI technology is allowing Oral-B to rework and improve the offering that was their predecessor model, the Genius 8000.

With the Genius X, there is no smartphone holder and no need to stand in front of a camera. Sensors and clever computer wizardry track your brush movements, reporting back to you, just how well you brushed and letting you know where you could do better.

In this review I try and come up with a list of pros and cons to help you decide if the Oral-B Genius X 10,000 is right for you. That is since someone’s pro could be another persons con and vice versa or it may not weigh as heavily to someone else.

Pros:

• AI Bluetooth capability which gives you a good idea of what areas and how long you spend brushing your teeth
• Visible pressure sensor will alert you if you are brushing too hard
• Bluetooth connectivity works well
• Multiple cleaning modes (icon design is a con, see below)

Cons:

• Quite Pricey, this toothbrush is certainly not for everyone (Oral-B does provide rechargeable models starting at $25 and Pro models starting at $50)
• Icons for only 5 of the 6 cleaning modes on the brush handle
• You need to remember what each icon means, Wish they were simply replaced by labels
• Proprietary power adapter, I would like to see a USB or more standard used in 2021.
