If you are restless or anxious from self-isolation in your home, find a physically stimulating activity to energize you. In addition, homebodies can also benefit from some exercise at least once a day, because staying in shouldn’t translate to being unfit. Particularly now, because staying indoors is out of your control.
Unfortunately, the gym and yoga studios are closed worldwide; therefore, you will have to improvise. These home workout routines won’t require expensive equipment and sometimes no equipment at all. The extent, type, and tempo of the exercises you choose are entirely up to you.
Here are a few suggestions you can start with:
Take Daily Walks
There is no excuse as to why you can’t get your 10,000 steps daily. However, there is no reason to worry because you can walk around the block if you live in the city. If done daily, these walks are enough to keep you mentally and physically fit in the long run.
It is incredible how much a walk can alter your entire mood for the day. Somehow, walking around is therapeutic and can soothe a disturbed mind. Sometimes, switch up the walks with a slow evening jog through the neighborhood.
Maintain Your Hobbies
You must have one or two hobbies you can spend the whole day on regardless of what is happening outside. As such, schedule some time throughout your day to take part in the hobbies. However, if your hobbies don’t involve any movement, reapply them to your physical exercise.
For example, say you enjoy listening to music; there is no reason why you should listen to it as you stretch or take a walk. On the other hand, a mobile video player is a great way to stimulate your mind if you’re a gamer.
Stand Up and Stretch
Other times, you wouldn’t like to do any complicated exercises or are too bored even to start. Then, you can stand up and stretch your body, preferably with amateur yoga positions. It shouldn’t be too serious, and a good stretch is ideal than sitting aimlessly on the couch all day.
Maybe your backaches are because of your posture and inactivity. Who knows, a good stretch session can get you into the mood, and after some time, you can progress into other exercise routines.
Try Gentle Lifting Exercises
You don’t even need the conventional dumbbells because something like a water bottle can act as a weight. Luckily there are so many options of things you can lift at your home. In no time, your biceps and triceps will thank you.
Create a Home Gym
A home gym is not only convenient but will save your daily trips to the gym for training sessions. The upside to this gym is that you can decorate it with whatever you what. For instance, if you want to hang the picture of a fitness mentor, you can do it as an inspiration for every workout session.
Keeping fit is not as complicated as it seems in fitness advertisements on television and the internet. You can always stay active through simple activities like the ones listed above; however, technology can get in the way of your journey when you are stuck at home all day. Therefore, plan and make it a goal to at least take a walk or stretch daily.
