As the long nights start to set in, the sunny, hot summer days may start to feel like a distant memory and that fitness motivation that you once had that seems to come so easily during the Spring and Summer months feels like it's disappeared into thin air. The good news is that you can get it back -cooler temperatures and shorter days doesn't mean it's time to give up on your health and fitness goals. All you have to do is stop using them as a fitness barrier and excuse. In fact, many people feel down and suffer from seasonal affective disorders as a direct result of darker mornings and shorter evenings, meaning it's more important than ever to keep your body moving to release those feel-good endorphins. Here are three tips to get you back on track and boost your motivation as we move into fall.

Here are three tips to get you back on track and boost your motivation as we move into fall. 

Treat yourself to some new activewear

Investing in some new active gear can be a great way to regain your motivation for working out. 

If you are serious about keeping up with your fitness, invest in some well-fitting sports clothes that are durable as well as comfortable, such as the Air Jordan 1 mid sneakers, especially if you are planning on doing any activities outdoors. Not only will it make you feel comfortable, more confident, and hopefully even more excited to work out, it will also leave you feeling guilty if you don’t. While the guilty part obviously isn’t the goal, it is a side effect that can actually help give you the push you need. The activewear doesn’t have to be the most expensive out there, but the fact that you’ve spent money on it means that you will feel guilty if you don’t get the use out of it. Either way, you will be motivated and look good while getting fit, which is all you are really looking for at the end of the day anyway.

Workout with friends

Working out with people isn’t for everyone granted, but having a gym buddy is a great way to get you to commit to those workouts and keep you accountable, even when you don’t feel like it. Whether it’s first thing in the morning or after work, studies show that by making your exercise regime sociable, you are much less likely to cancel, especially if it means that you will be letting someone else down. Not only that, but the whole experience will push you harder, help you focus, encourage you to try new things, and be a lot more fun in the process – a win-win on all fronts. 

Embrace the outdoors no matter the weather

If you live in a cold climate, going outside can sometimes be the last thing you want to do, but getting some fresh air while you exercise can be one of the best things for you, especially if you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder. Try and get out during the day as often as you can for a run or even just a long walk to give you a boost, both physically and mentally, no matter the temperatures. While it might be hard at first, doing this on a regular basis will motivate you to keep up with your fitness regime and get you moving, even on those chillier days.
