If you are trying to think of ways in which you can hope to feel a little closer to your son, the truth is that there are many options available to you at any one time. But the problems with father-son bonding is that it is often hard to know what you should do, how often you should approach it, and so on. You don’t want to overdo it, but you also don’t want to never do it at all, and beyond all that you need to have a good idea in mind for what activity you can do together. Finding something you are both going to enjoy can be hard, but there are a few generally safe options you might want to consider. In this post, we are going to take a look at just some of those, so that you have some options to choose from, should you feel a little lost.

RC Racing

This has to be considered a true classic, and it’s something that you might even remember doing with your own father. Racing radio-controlled cars and trucks over different terrains is great fun, and you will find that it is likely that your own son wants to do this again and again. If you want to get into this with your son, the first step is to go out and buy a couple of RC vehicles. You might want to think about getting a variety, whether you want a rock crawler RC car for you and something else for your son, or for both of you to have something similar. In any case, the next step is to find somewhere decent to race them, which will depend largely on the vehicles and what space you have around you to use and so on. Then it’s just a case of making your own rules and racing those babies around.

Fishing

Another one that is something of a classic, and equally likely to be appreciated by father and son alike. The great thing about going fishing is that it is hugely therapeutic, and because it is generally an all-day affair it is also a very good means of getting in some good bonding time with your son. If you have never fished before, you will of course need to make sure that you learn first before trying to teach your son – or you could both go and learn together, which could also prove to be a particularly enjoyable way to spend a weekend. Before long, you will both be fishing every other weekend, and loving that time spent together.

Movies

If you want to instead just sit at home, then you can also see that as a great opportunity for bonding, and there are many ways to do so. One of the best is to simply watch movies together, ideally when it is just the two of you and you can watch something that the both of you like. You might develop a taste together, and you could end up going down some of cinema’s less traversed pathways, bonding all the time.
