Now that the weather is warming up, it’s natural to want to look your best and give your fitness and appearance a boost so you can enjoy the summer. But if you’ve been off the workout wagon for a while it can throw up one important question- what do I wear? When you have an interest in fashion you will of course still want to look good in what you have on, but feeling happy and confident in your clothes can also give you a boost and actually make you more inclined to get that workout in. Here are a few exercise clothing essentials to add to your wardrobe.
Shorts and Tshirts
At this time of year, chances are most of your workouts will be done in shorts and tshirts. You need materials that are breathable and won’t make you feel uncomfortable when you start to sweat, and styles that fit nicely and suit your style. Try on lots of pairs of shorts so you can work out which kind of length is comfortable for you. There are tons of different tshirt designs so choose something that reflects you and is stylish while still being practical.
Jackets and Joggers
If you exercise in the morning or evening (or it’s just a colder day) then you need something that’s going to protect you from the elements a little. Plus, you can throw these on over your shorts and tshirts and take them off when you start warming up if needed. Go with styles that give you full range of motion, fit well and feel comfortable. You can even make your own hoodie with a custom design if you want something a little more personal or fashion forward! Decide if a hoodie that you pull on and off is best for you, or if you’d prefer something with a zip down the middle.
Footwear
The type of footwear you will need will depend on the kind of exercise you’re doing. For example, if you’re going to be dong a lot of running you will need proper running shoes which are lightweight while supporting your feet. If you plan on hiking, then good hiking boots will be needed. Sports like football will of course require studded football boots. If it’s weight training you’ll be doing, the right footwear will help you to feel sturdy and support your feet. It’s worth doing some research here, the wrong sneakers can hurt your feet and so it’s definitely something to get right. Don’t forget socks too- workout socks will be more breathable and can actually help you to perform better in your workouts.
When you’re working out, the last thing you want is to feel self conscious because of what you’re wearing, and so it’s important to find the right clothes to exercise in. If you’re planning on getting back on the fitness wagon then kitting yourself out with the right gear is a great way to start and can give you the push you need to get back into it.
