Stress can affect you in many ways. It can make it difficult to get to sleep at night, affect your mood and your appetite and it can even lead to physical symptoms, such as spot outbreaks, aches and pains, and coughs and colds. Eventually if unmanaged your stress could lead to a severe mental health problem such as depression or anxiety.

So, it’s important to recognize stress and do something about it. Instead of spending your life worried about things, always thinking about problems and issues and dwelling on negativity, find ways to unwind.

A common cause of stress is bottling things up and worrying about things you have no control over. After a tough day at work or with the kids, it’s important that you are able to leave the stresses of the day behind and move on. However, a lot of the advice out there on how to reduce tension is a bit…boring. When you’re worked up and stressed out, sometimes, you need to have a little fun. Join a Sports Team

After school, most of us either carry on playing team sports seriously or stop altogether, depending on how good we are. You could even start your own with some friends or just spend time playing in the local park. Team sports have many advantages, they are fun, social, great exercise and a brilliant way of burning off some steam.

Take up Martial Arts

Martial arts are great for burning off stress. You could take a class at a local sports center or even try something like shadow boxing or combat aerobics at home with an online video. This is an excellent way to keep fit and use all that stress for something positive.

Go for a Drive

Do you enjoy driving? A lot of people do but never get the chance to do it, just for the sake of driving. We’re often rushing about, driving to get to somewhere. Getting stressed out by traffic, road works, and other drivers. This shouldn’t’ be what driving is about. Get in your car and go for a long drive. Try to find some quiet roads or go somewhere new. Just enjoy the pure pleasure of your vehicle, without all the stresses that so often come with it.

Of course, all the more passive strategies such as talking, reading a book and taking a long shower can help too. It’s all about finding what works for you. Stress affects us all in different ways, and so we all have our own ways to cope with it. Try some out until you find something that works, but make sure try to have some fun.
