For many men, self-confidence is a big issue which affects them for much of their life. Of course, everyone has this issue, but for grown men it is particularly pertinent. Guys tend to have the desire to be the alpha of the situation, whether that is really warranted or not. The truth is, the whole notion of the alpha male is a little over-stretched. As far as the science is concerned, there is not really such a thing in modern cultures. Self-confidence has much more to do with how you perceive yourself in relation to others. It makes sense for guys to want to be self-confident. After all, it is true that confidence allows you to get more of what you want, when you want it. But how do you go about building something up, especially when you feel that you don’t have much stock of it? The truth is, confidence is like a muscle. The more you use it, the better at it you become. Let’s take a deeper look into the subtle art of increasing your self-confidence.

Being True – In order to become a more confident version of yourself, you have to be just that – yourself. This might sound like a cliche, but there is a lot of truth in it. After all, the simple fact of the matter is that you cannot ever be anyone else. The first mistake that most people make is that they build up an image of what a confident man looks like. This is usually a composite image based on people they know, combined with images from the world of television and film. They then work towards trying to be that thing which they have imagined. However, this doesn’t work. In order to become more confident, you have to go more deeply into the true nature of who you really are. This means accepting your foibles as well as celebrating your perks. The moment you try to become a version of someone else, you lose respect for yourself, and the game is over.

Working On Yourself – The major pitfall that many people fall into at this point is that they suffer from low self-image. Because they have not yet practised self-confidence, they think that it is something beyond their scope. Nothing could be further from the truth. Accepting yourself as you are doesn’t preclude you from also working to improve yourself. The two are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they go hand in hand. So, the next step on the journey is to start working on improving yourself. This could be absolutely anything you like. The main thing is that you start small and finish your goals. By doing so, you prove to yourself that you are capable of achieving things, and that is where confidence comes from. Projecting & Helping Others – If you are not careful, you can soon find yourself becoming too bogged down in yourself. This happens all too easily when you are working to improve yourself. We all know people who have become too self-centered. Avoid this at all costs. The best way to keep your head level is to go out of your way to help others. This also has the happy advantage of increasing your confidence even further.
