5 Effective Strategies For Fighting Traffic Tickets

Look guys, let’s be honest; we all have a reputation for being ‘boy racers.’

And what does that mean?

It means people think we’re loud, obnoxious and dangerous on the roads. This couldn’t be further from the truth for 99% of us – it’s the 1% that causes us to be viewed this way!

But even though most of us are as careful as can be behind the wheel, occasionally, things don’t go as planned. At worst, this can lead to an accident, and at best, a minor traffic ticket – but neither is ideal.

But fortunately, it’s possible to fight back against the latter, and dismiss it as a temporary hindrance. Most of us will have received a traffic ticket at one point or another, but I’m betting not all of us know how to fight them – so here’s how…

1. Explain that your driving was to try and prevent an accident – There are dozens of situations where this may be the case, but unfortunately, you will still be given a ticket. For example, you could have swerved in order to avoid a clumsy pedestrian. Or, you could have broken the speed limit to avoid another car.

By using this strategy, you are giving solid grounds as to your actions. It’s hard to overlook the fact that a minor offence would have been better than a huge accident, after all.

2. Attend traffic school – Most people will be forced to attend a traffic school after committing a traffic violation, and you will be no different. However, physical traffic school is rather dull, and takes a big chunk of time to complete.

However, a system such as the 5 dollar online traffic school can make it simpler. Traffic school is designed to help you mask those negative license points, and doing it online could make your life easier.

3. Use the road conditions as evidence – If the roads you were driving on at the time weren’t really up to par, you can use this to your advantage. For example, if you run a stop sign, but that sign is covered with leaves and trees, that really isn’t your fault.

Or, if the road markings are so worn down that you can’t see them, it’s not your fault if you don’t abide by them. You can present these facts to the judge which can greatly help you out.

4. Contact eyewitnesses – If you managed to get eyewitness details, or were traveling with a passenger, you can enlist their help. They may be the ones to confirm the road conditions weren’t up to par, or that you were trying to prevent an accident.

5. Dispute the police officer’s reasoning – They’re there to hold up the law, but they don’t always get things 100% correct. It’s perfectly fair to dispute their reasoning.

You could inform the judge that the police officer was in front of you when you committed the violation, so how did they see?

Or, if you get a speeding ticket, you could state that all the other cars in that area were speeding too, so you were safe. This happens more often than you’d think, particularly on the highway.
