NYC Craft Beer Festival: Top Beer & Cider Picks
Posted by Lauren Jablonski
The NYC Craft Beer Fest is a place where artisans gather to share beer, food, artwork, and other products. Unlike other beer festivals, the beers are hand selected, rare, and unique. Here are my top craft beer and cider picks from the NYC Craft Beer Festival.
Free Will Brewing Company Peach Sour 4.9% ABV
This beer is easy to drink, moderately sour with a nice peach flavor to finish off. This sour beer is perfect for summer.
Virtue Cider The Mitten 6.9% ABV
Virtue Cider is a Michigan based craft cider company. Virtue’s ciders are made similar to traditional farmhouse ciders that are made in Europe. The Mitten is their bourbon barrel aged cider that is medium bodied and semi dry. Virtue’s Ciders are not too sweet and are made with fresh heirloom apples, never from concentrate. If you love ciders, this one will be your new favorite.
Nine Pin Cider Works Ginger 6.7% ABV
This cider is made from dessert apples from Samascott Orchards and is infused with ginger and orange peel. This is a great cider with a spicy and citrus kick!
Boulevard Smokestack Series The Sixth Glass Quadrupel Ale 10.5% ABV
When I first saw this bottle at NYC Craft Beer Festival, I asked the girl pouring what makes this a quadruple, then I noticed it is 10.5% ABV. This beer is full-bodied and dangerously smooth. Stock your beer fridge with these
Moody Tongue Slice Nectarine IPA 5.9% ABV
Summer farmer markets helped inspire this beer. The tropical aroma of stone fruits, make this a great warm weather IPA. This pares perfect with pulled pork or peach pie.
B. Nektar Zombie Killer Cherry Cyser 6% ABV
This cider is rose in color and has notes of cherries and honey. The sweetness of the apples and the tartness of the cherries complement each other perfectly.
The Dudes Rug Cider 5.5% ABV
This unique cider is brewed with Chai tea, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. If you like a spiced cider or tea try this.
Arcadia Brewing Rapunzel 6.6% ABV
American Pale Wheat Ale is light, clean, and pleasant to drink and keep drinking. Give it a try!
Dark Horse Brewing Scotty Karate 9.75%
If you love scotch, scotch, scotch definitely try this dark amber colored scotch ale, it won’t disappoint!
New Holland Brewing The Poet 5.2% ABV
This oatmeal stout is semi sweet with chocolate, roasted coffee and oatmeal flavors. Since it is 5.2% alcohol it is easy to drink compared to most stouts.
