Citi Field To Host Bacon And Beer Classic
Bacon and beer lovers near and far, cause for celebration is here! After drawing sold-out crowds in New York last April, the Bacon and Beer Classic is returning to the Big Apple for more sudsy, bacon-fueled fun inside Citi Field. Guests can expect a festival even bigger and better than before, with three sessions to choose from on April 22nd and 23rd, 2016.
A festival unlike any other, the Classic will offer foodies and baseball fans alike the opportunity to explore the iconic home of the Mets while indulging in delicious suds and grub. Over 40 local restaurants and 50 regional breweries will provide mouthwatering bacon dishes and refreshing craft beer throughout the concourse. Guests can also try their hand at giant Jenga, strike a pose at the photo booth, battle it out on the bungee run, brand themselves with bacon and beer-inspired tattoos, compete in a bacon eating contest, and more.
Kate Levenstien, founder of Cannonball Productions and the Bacon and Beer Classic, is thrilled to host the Classic inside Citi Field for the third time. “Citi Field feels like our second home, and always draws our biggest crowds. As a New Yorker, I can’t wait to share the city’s best beer and bacon dishes with my friends and neighbors for the third year in a row!”
This year, Cannonball Productions is spreading the festival over two days to ensure shorter lines and more bacon and beer for all. Guests can attend a Friday evening session from 8-11p.m. or one of two Saturday sessions from 1-4p.m. and 7-10p.m. VIP ticket holders are offered 1-hour early admission (7p.m., 12p.m. and 6p.m. respectively) and exclusive access to the field, where they may enjoy additional craft beers.
The all-star lineup of breweries includes Gun Hill Brewing Co., Speakeasy Ales & Lagers and Bad Seed Cider.; all will be pouring two of their best craft beers or ciders. Chefs from Bareburger, Route 66 Smokehouse, Schmackary’s Cookies and more will bring their most inventive and delicious bacon-infused dishes to the plate. The combination of refreshing craft beer and delectable bacon bites is sure to please all palettes.
A panel of judges will be on site to rate the sips and tastes and also award winners in select categories. The restaurant awarded the Best Overall Bacon Dish will go on to compete in the 2016 World Food Championships in Kissimmee, Florida.
As always, the Bacon and Beer Classic is all-inclusive. General Admission tickets are currently selling at $69 and VIP tickets are selling at $129, but prices will increase over the next few weeks. All tickets include a souvenir Bacon and Beer Classic branded glass to take home.
Hosted in sports stadiums across the country, the Bacon and Beer Classic will feature over seven destinations nationwide in 2016, including Denver’s Mile High Stadium on April 16th and Seattle’s Safeco Field on May 7th. Cannonball Productions works hard to make this national festival feel personal to each city. Along with a variety of charitable organizations, Cannonball Productions is partnering with the NYC-based food recovery program City Harvest to save and donate leftover food.
