Tech And Gear The Adventurous Guy Can’t Live Without
I like my sports, and I love my tech. Better still, I’ve found the two fit together beautifully. As a self-professed adventurer, I love exploring the outdoors in my spare time. I enjoy coming back with mud coating my legs and sweat dripping down my back. On a Saturday morning, that’s by far one of the best feelings in the world. But, I wouldn’t be going anywhere without the teach and gear that I’ve been buying over the years. Here are just some of the pieces of tech that I rely on during my adventure travel.
A Solid Watch – I know many people are shrugging their shoulders right now. Why do you need a watch anymore? Almost every gadget that you pick up these days has the time on it. Sound about right? Well while I’ll admit my phone is useful, I’m not going to have it in my pocket while I’m mountain climbing. That’s a good way to lose your iPhone at the bottom of a cliff. I’m also not going to have it when I’m swimming near a waterfall. But, I will have my watch on because it’s waterproof, sturdy and built to last. Also, unlike my phone my G shock mudman didn’t cost seven hundred dollars. So, there’s that. You do need a good watch when you’re traveling as well because time can get away from you. You need to watch out that you don’t stay on a mountain too long and get lost in the weather.
Phone Case – Of course, if my iPhone does drop out my pocket I’m pretty sure it’s going to be safe. I’ve bought the army case for it and I’m told with it on, you can drop it from a hundred meters. You won’t find a scratch on it. For a clumsy guy like me, that’s a pretty comforting reassurance. But I’ve also got a waterproof case for it as well. I quite like swimming in the rivers near where I live during the summer. I just know one of these days the phone is going to take a tumble and I’ll have to dive in after it. But, when I resurface it should be working fine in it’s air tight container. You can buy both of these at reasonably cheap prices online.
USB Lights – I’m a big cyclist. I love hitting the open roads in the morning and spending about three hours on my bike a day. But winter is now approaching, and that means the evenings are going to be a lot darker. It’s more dangerous to cycle when roads are like this, particularly when you can’t rely on your lights. That’s why I’ve bought USB rechargeable bike and helmet lights. These brilliant little gadgets stay on for hours. But if they do run out, I’ve also got a spare battery back. Never again will I be trapped out in the middle of nowhere with no light to cycle home.
These are just a few of the pieces of tech I rely on. If you are a bit of an adventurer like me, I strongly suggest you consider purchasing a few. Let us know some of your favorites in the comments section below.
