We all love the gym, guys, but sometimes it gets pretty monotonous. It’s often the same weights and exercises over and over again. It doesn’t take long to lose your motivation for it. What you need is a serious of high-impact exercises that keep you in the game, but are fun too. There are tons of alternative workouts and exercises out there that will keep you in shape, and give you a thrill. The best workouts are the ones you can’t wait to do. That’s why we’ve pulled together a list of killer workouts for when you’re bored of the gym.
Rock climbing – There’s nothing more intense than getting out in the open, and climbing a sheer rock face. You’ll need safety ropes and a guide to get you up the real mountains, but there is a quick alternative too. Most cities now have indoor bouldering walls. There are no harnesses involved, and it’s all about tough, technical climbs. It works your upper body and your core muscles like no other weight training exercise. Plus, it’s exciting, adrenaline pumping, and addictive. Try it yourself, and you’ll immediately notice the difference in your upper body.
Team sports – Sometimes, you just need the motivation and encouragement from others around you. Team sports will give you that. Even just playing some basketball at the local courts or throwing a football around will get the heart pumping. It’s perfect for your general fitness and stamina. But, best of all, it’s social. Your friends will always spur you on, and they’ll make sure you show up every single time too!
Fighting and martial arts – Fighting is one of the most intense workouts you can put your body through. It uses every corner of your body, including muscles you never knew existed. You can start with a simple kickboxing class to learn some of the basics. You can then take on some of the more intense fights like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai boxing. You’ll learn all the correct techniques and postures. You could even mix them up, and take several classes. Each one has its unique set of traditions and styles, and you’ll learn something new every time.
Fell running – We’ve already talked about climbing mountains. Now, what about running up them? Fell running is perfect for those who find the treadmill a little dull! Fell running lets you take things to the next level. It’s intense, exhausting, and it will test your mental strength. For the most extreme runners, you could even take on a variety of mountains at once. Strap a tent to your back, and get out in the wilderness.
Bootcamp challenges – We all like a workout challenge. That’s why we take on half-marathons and even marathons. But, what about embarking on a more intense bootcamp challenge? You’ll power through muddy swamps, climb over obstacles, and swim through rivers. It’s intense, but fun every step of the way.
