NY Mets Acquire RHP Addison Reed From Arizona

The New York Mets announced the club has acquired righthanded pitcher Addison Reed from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for minor league righthanded pitchers Miller Diaz and Matt Koch. Reed is expected to join the team on Monday. The Mets also recalled infielder Wilfredo Tovar and placed him on the 60-Day Disabled List.

Reed, 26, has 104 major league saves over five seasons with the White Sox and Diamondbacks. He has the 12th-most saves in the majors since 2012. The Scottsdale, AZ native is 2-2 with a 4.20 ERA (19 earned runs/40.2 innings) in 38 games with Arizona this year. The 6-4, 230-pounder has allowed three runs over 16.1 innings with three walks and 14 strikeouts since July 29.He has held lefthanders to a .242 (16-66) batting average this year. Lefties hit .219 (25-114) off Reed in 2014.

Reed had 32 saves and 69 strikeouts in 59.1 innings in 2014 with the Diamondbacks and recorded a career-high 40 saves with 72 strikeouts in 71.1 innings in 2013 with the White Sox.

In 236 major league games, Reed is 11-15 with a 4.20 ERA (109 earned runs/233.2 innings) and 241 strikeouts.

Diaz, 23, was 5-12 with a 4.71 ERA (65 earned runs/124.1 innings) in 23 games, 21 starts for St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League.

Koch, 24, was 4-8 with a 3.46 ERA (34 earned runs/88.1 innings) in 35 games, eight starts for Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League this year.
