Ion Block Party Live: The Review

Block Party Live, Ion, Review Tech, Tech Review, speaker

When you have a party or in my my case an annual Forth of July block party, you always need music to keep the party going strong.
With Block Party Live, you’re never far from the action. Enjoy a premium fidelity sound system plus an exhilarating light show everyplace you go—inside or out. Simply charge up the battery, extend the handle, and your Block Party Live is ready to roll (Literally).

ION’s Block Party Live is a powerful 50-Watt Bluetooth speaker with a built-in light show and rechargeable battery that creates an instant dance party anywhere. Stream music wirelessly from your Bluetooth-enabled device and watch Block Party Lives’ multicolor lights pump and pulsate in time with your music. The dazzling and colorful lights change in pattern and are projected onto ceilings and walls, giving you an instant party atmosphere. Plus, you can control four different lighting modes remotely from your smartphone or tablet with the included Party Rocker app (I did not test out the app). Block Party Live also features an integrated, long-lasting rechargeable battery that ensures the music and lights keep going all night long. A 1/8-inch (3.5mm) input lets you amplify non-Bluetooth audio devices, and a microphone with a cable is included for karaoke, performing, MCing and more.

I was quite pleased to find that it was larger than I first expected. The product construction is very solid. Usability of the unit is great. I easily connected our iPod via the input jack (cord provided- but kind of short). Connecting a device via bluetooth was incredibly simple too, no instructions needed. You can be up and running within seconds of plugging into the wall – all without instructions for even the most novice user. The sound is incredibly good and easily fills a large room with power to spare without compromising clarity. In fact, was loud enough to blast music across the street with all the loud activities we had going on for the 4th of July. The provided microphone works very good and has an on/off switch on microphone and is of decent quality. The sound is very good when using the microphone. The laser lights are very, if not surprisingly, powerful and I recommend you not look directly at them when turning it on. I made that mistake once. The lights easily fill the entire room and work very well in various modes. I did not downloaded the Party Rocker App though it provides maximum control and customization of the functions and you should be highly pleased with it based on what I read. It allows you to essentially act as the DJ for your next party. With the app, you can customize the laser light colors, patterns, beat sync, speed, set to strobe and even tilt functions. What is nice is that you can still control the unit from the cabinet, even if the app has control- it is not one or the other.

We used it for not only the 4th of July but for a bunch of back yard BBQs and it was a big hit with those of all ages, except when there was a disagreement as to what song should play next. The unit feels incredibly durable. This is definitely worth it.I totally enjoy the ION Bock Party Live and so will you.
