IT’S RUM TIME! Let’s Have A Party

Bacardi, It's Rum Time!, Puerto Rico, Rum, Rums of Puerto Rico

Whether you like a Rum and Coke, Rum Punch, Mojito or just Rum straight there is so much to learn about the alcoholic beverage. If you do not know it, Puerto Rico is one of the biggest and best rum-producing nations in the world billing itself as the “Rum Capital of the World,” making a huge amount of the stuff. Located between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic, east of the Dominican Republic, the climate of Puerto Rico is just right for producing the sugar cane from which rum (or ron, as the locals know it) is made — which the island nation has been doing since the 1500s. Today, more than 80% of the rum consumed in the USA hails from this island.

History.com and Rums of Puerto Rico bring you Rum Times, a new unique web series that provides a wealth of knowledge about the different rums of the region and the history behind it all. The main rum producing enterprise in Arecibo is Barceló, Marqués y Co. Its flagship brand was Ron Palo Viejo. You will have the opportunity to see the country and its history in ways never seen before, from the eyes of a local luxury that has been around for centuries.

It is very easy to access Rum Times as well as learn more than you could have imagined, and leading you to drink the best rum you’ve had. The first episode’s exploration of the quest for electric light and historical features include key figures such as Thomas Alva Edison and Nikola Tesla.

Check out It’s Rum Time and tell us what you think about the new series promoting the Puerto Rican Rum.

  2. I like rum. A lot. I don’t drink it much though. When I do it is one of three ways. Rum & Coke, I can also make a great Mojito (using spiced rum, hell yeah) and then there is a South American beverage called Chicha Mirada which is sort of like… I don’t know, a juice maybe. Anyway, I use that as a mixer for rum as well.

    1. Rum and Coke is pretty much my #1 Rum drink and Mojito’s are really good too. I will have to check out the Chicha Mirada. Thanks.
