NY Mets Aquire LHP Jerry Blevins From Washington

The New York Mets today announced the club has acquired left handed pitcher Jerry Blevins from the Washington Nationals in exchange for outfielder Matt den Dekker.

Blevins, 31, was 2-3 with a 4.87 ERA (31 earned runs/57.1 innings) and 66 strikeouts in 64 games for the Nationals last year.

The 6-6, 185-pound has appeared in 60 or more games three straight seasons and has reached that plateau in four of the last five years. He held left handed hitters to a .160 (17-106) batting average in 2014 and has limited lefties to a .212 (114-539) career mark.

Blevins stranded 31 of 35 inherited runners, notched nine holds and averaged 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings last year.
The Johnson City, TN native was 5-0 with a 3.15 ERA (21 earned runs/60.0 innings) in 67 games with the Oakland Athletics in 2013.

Blevins is 15-9 with a 3.58 ERA (129 earned runs/324.1 innings) and 305 strikeouts in 345 career games with the Athletics and Nationals from 2007-2014.

Den Dekker, 27, hit .250 (38-152) with seven RBI in 53 games for the Mets last season.
