SNY Reveals Spring Training Coverage

As winter continues to bear down on the east coast, SNYthe official television home of the New York Mets, New York Jets and all things New York sports – looks ahead to warmer days as the network today announced its comprehensive spring training coverage to kick-off its tenth season of New York Mets baseball.  SNY will once again be on-hand to cover all the action down in Port St. Lucie as fans receive a first look at the Mets electrifying group of young arms and veteran all-stars before Opening Day.  Citi will be the presenting sponsor of SNY’s spring training coverage.

SNY’s Emmy Award-winning broadcast team featuring Ron Darling, Keith Hernandez and Gary Cohen – widely recognized as the best broadcast team in all of baseball – will make its 2015 debut Friday, March 6th at 1:10pm as the Mets host the Detroit Tigers in the network’s spring training opener.  Coverage begins with a special edition of Mets Pre-Game at 12:30pm as new studio analyst Nelson Figueroa makes his first appearance alongside host Gary Apple.  Following first pitch, former contributor Steve Gelbs will debut in his fulltime role as Mets Field Reporter.  A member of the SNY team since 2013, Gelbs has served primarily as an anchor and sports reporter for the network’s sports and entertainment news shows.  Prior to SNY, Gelbs spent four years at MSG Varsity before joining MSG Network in 2012 where he contributed to both the network and MSG Radio broadcasts.  Gelbs is a 2009 graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications.

SNY will feature extensive coverage throughout spring training during its live shows, including Daily News Live at 5:00pm,Loud Mouths at 5:30pm, Covino & Rich at 6:00pm and GEICO SportsNite from 10:30pm-1:30am.  The network’s website – www.sny.tv – will also provide the most comprehensive, exclusive online coverage of the Mets anywhere on the web as Metsblog.com temporarily relocates its operation to Port St. Lucie for wall-to-wall spring training coverage.  Some of the unique web enhancements that SNY.tv and Metsblog.com will feature throughout spring training include:

►Live chats and blogging – including exclusive video – updated throughout the day.
►Exclusive one-on-one interviews with players and coaches.
►Exclusive one-on-one interviews with SNY personalities Keith Hernandez, Ron Darling and Gary Cohen.
