Entertaining With Negra Modelo

Negra Modelo, The Perfect Compliment to great food with family and lots of laughs!

Back in mid-October a representative working with Negra Modelo reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in working with the beer company in support of their “Perfect Complement” campaign (#theperfectcomplement) and host a dinner event with friends. To be honest I never tried Negra Modelo before and though I knew of the beer it was one I never really gave thought to trying despite the many different beers I have tried over the years. Not sure what it was but it was not on my list. Then after reading up about the beer and how well it pairs with so many different types of food, I figured I would give it a try.

They provided me with a $50 gift card for groceries and a Negra Modelo tasting kit which included a set of 4 pre-mixed spice blends from the Spice House, some  cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, a small cutting board and a set of two Negra Modelo beer glasses. So last Saturday, I had a small intimate dinner gathering that my wife and I had planned. Negra Modelo is one incredibly versatile beer that works especially well with Latin dishes but can be the Perfect Compliment to any meal. Thanks to its amber quality and deep caramel malt flavor, it is the perfect complement to all kinds of cuisines. Even the ladies who are normally wine drinkers enjoyed the taste of Negra Modelo. It is one of many Mexican beers in the Constellation Brands family that dates back to 1925 and gets its distinct taste from slow roasting caramel malts. This technique makes the brewing process last twice as long as other beers, deepening the flavor.

On the menu was:

  • London Broil marinated in red wine and Quebec beef spice
  • Chicken Skewers with Bicentennial seasoning
  • Pork Tenderloin with Back of the yards garlic pepper (Butcher’s Rub)
  • Roasted Baby Red Potatoes with Bavarian style seasoning
  • Fiesta Bean Salad (black beans, chick peas, cilantro, red onion, tomatoes, lime juice, garlic, avocado)
  • Rice and spinach side dish
  • Guacamole with tortilla chips
  • Mango Peach Salsa with tortilla chips

The night was filled with great beer, great food and as always great conversation. Thank you Negra Modelo for giving us another excuse to get together for good food and drinks. Negra Modelo, the perfect complement to any evening!
