uNu Aero Wireless Charging Battery Case: The Review

uNu Aero Wireless Charging case

If you are like me, you always feel like you iPhone battery is dying way too fast. It seems before you know it you have to throw it on the charger. Well with the uNu Aero wireless battery case, you don’t need to worry any more. This case is great and very simple to use when it comes to charging your device, all you have to do is place the phone on the mat with the case on it and the phone and the case charge at the same time (first the phone charges to 100% then the extra battery). I will never worry about my phone dying with this product because it gives my phone great battery life.

The Aero Wireless Charging Battery Case for iPhone 5 and 5s adds a 2,000 mAh battery to your iPhone and wireless charging capabilities which will allow for a full second charge for your phone. Along with the case, you’ll get a slim and sleek charging pad designed to work with the case. First the phone is charged to 100%, then the auxiliary battery is charged up.

Having tested this item over the last week, I can certainly confirm that it is well made, well designed and overall a really positive addition to an iPhone. The case very easily clips over the phone and is a perfect fit. It certainly adds a little weight and size, but considering what it does, not a lot. The extra weight is only about 2.5 ounces, which may be an issue if you carry your phone in your pocket and the extra length is almost negligible, something less than half an inch. My only other negative about this case is that the front is flush with the phone therefore it does not provide any bumper protection if dropped flat on its face. It comes with

It is all very straight forward. You plug in the pad, either to a computer via the USB cable supplied or into the mains with a USB plug and place the phone with case onto it. There are a series of four blue lights on the back to indicate the charge. These are viewed by pressing the button on the back and when all four are lit it is fully charged. When your phone is in need of extra power, you just press the same button on the back and the charge transfers from the extra battery into the phone until it is back to 100% or you have exhausted the extra power.

Since the lightning adapter is occupied, there is a micro USB port on the outside of the Aero case that you can use to charge the phone using a micro USB cable if you need or use it to transfer data to your PC/Mac. It also comes with the charging platform/micro USB cord (it does not come with a USB to wall plug so you will have to use one of your own) and 3.5mm headphone extension cable in case your headphones do not fit in the phone due to the slight recess of the port at the bottom of the case.

In practice I found that the additional battery does exactly what is claimed (ie: when the phone is out of power, it has just enough charge to restore the phone to 100% hence doubling the battery life). Overall this is a great addition to an iPhone. It is very irritating when you are using many of the extra features and run down the battery when out an about or just forget to charge it up in a timely manner and are left without communication. This does a great job at overcoming this issue, without adding overly much to the bulk of the phone and whilst providing very good exterior protection to your phone. It’s functional, stylish, thin, and just plain awesome. It may be a little expensive, but for what you get, I think it’s worth the $100 asking price.

For pricing and availability, you can find both versions (iPhone and Galaxy S4) available on the uNu site. The iPhone 5/5s version is available for $99.95, while the Galaxy S4 version retails for $89.95. You can also purchase additional charging pads for $24.95.
