FROM The Merrick Patch: Long Island-based tribute bands Almost Journey, Captain Jack, and Beginnings will open their hearts for Long Island children with autism Valentine’s Day weekend when they take center stage to perform the popular hits of Journey, Billy Joel and Chicago, respectively, in The Mosaic Foundation for Autism’s Super Star Tribute Band Concert for Autism produced by Friend Entertainment USA of Long Island. This charitable musical show will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at Brookside School, located at 1260 Meadowbrook Road in North Merrick, NY.
“It is so uplifting to see these three popular tribute bands known for celebrating our musical greats performing together to lend support for our mission in raising autism awareness,” says Lauretta Murdock, a mother of two sons with autism who is Founder of both The Mosaic Foundation for Autism in Wantagh, NY and The Mosaic School for Autism in Wantagh, NY. “It is our hope that people will spend their Valentine’s Day weekend attending this ‘Super Star Tribute Band Concert’ where they will not only have the opportunity to enjoy a fun night of music but also extend some love and support for children with autism.”

Tickets are $35.00 per person. The Mosaic Foundation for Autism Inc., which is affiliated with The Mosaic School for Autism, actively seeks to raise awareness of autism and its challenges as well as funds to increase opportunities for people with autism so they can participate in appropriate educational, social and recreational activities. .
Founded by Lauretta Murdock, an autism educator and advocate who has two children with autism, The Mosaic School for Autism is a private school that serves children with autism ranging from the ages of five through 21. Students at The Mosaic School receive a quality, hands-on education that is tailored to suite their unique behavioral and learning needs, with emphasis on fostering the communication, social and academic skills necessary for living and functioning within the family, school and community environments. Each student’s program is developed in close cooperation with the individual’s family and school district along with any other professionals working with the family.
