The New York Mets today announced the club has signed lefthanded pitcher John Lannan to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League Spring Training.
Lannan, 29, has made 148 major league starts over the last seven years between the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies. The 6-4, 235-pounder was 3-6 with a 5.33 ERA (44 earned runs/74.1 innings) in 14 starts with the Phillies in 2013.
Lannan was born in Long Beach, NY and attended Chaminade High School in Mineola. He won 10 games and posted a 3.70 ERA (76 earned runs/184.2 innings) in 2011 with Washington.
Overall, Lannan is 45-58 with a 4.12 ERA (393 earned runs/858.0 innings) over his seven-year major league career.
